Who Can Use weNear?
Imagine being in a public transportation (a train for ex.) and it is going to take a couple of hours. And an old friend is already traveling on the same train but both of you are not aware that you are near each other. If there is a way so that both of you get notified, you would grasp such an opportunity to sit and chit chat.
Imagine that you are in your sporting club and your tennis playmate didn't show up, yet you are eager to have the activity. weNear enables you to send an announcement to nearby weNear users that might be interested in joining you for a game or two.

The main business use of weNear is for public announcers (shopping malls and stores) to broadcast tagged messages about promotions or special offers. The messages will be received by weNear users interested in the service provided. People love to get notification about such offers when they can make use of it instantly. Not only public announcers who can enrich their business using weNear. A normal weNear user will still be able to send announcements about his own garagesale, his desire to exchange/sell/give away any item or service that he has.
With weNear we did not create an all in one application, we provide an API that allows people/developers to create a new breed of location based software. This API is intended to be as extensible, flexible as possible. The developers will focus on new innovative ideas while assured that the weNear server has solved most of their problems.
weNear server is based on a set of REST APIs. These APIs will be provided through a centralized server that receives the applications information and sends back relevant ones through standard http calls.
Clients have been created to reduce the time needed to develop a new weNear application and implementing the connection between the client and the server.
